The Outlaw Ocean

A 6-song album commissioned by The New York Times & Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, Ian Urbina. Coinciding with the release of his best selling new book The Outlaw Ocean, composers from all over the world were tasked with writing music to represent the emotions and themes conveyed by Ian’s 5 year long investigation of high crimes on the ocean including piracy, whaling, overfishing, slave trading, pollution and other treacherous acts that usually go unreported. Most producers were asked to write one song, but Ian wanted me to compose 6 pieces that incorporated as many sounds as possible from his travels, recordings, interviews, and investigative reporting. My portion of the project is now available everywhere now. All videos shot by Sasha Nitze, and edited by me.
